| OIRP conducts information gathering, data analysis, and research and reporting for PSU. The office collects, preserves, interprets, and disseminates information regarding the characteristics, activities, operations, and policies of PSU. PSU uses this information for many purposes including: mandated reporting requirements; administrative decision-making, policy formulation and institutional planning; and academic assessment. | ||||||||||

| How does OIRP support PSU's assessment efforts? | ||||||||||
| OIRP provides statistical information for assessment activities at the institution level (e.g., for accreditation) and assists in the administration and analysis of assessment instruments at the institutional and department level. Staff from OIRP are members of the Assessment Council and provide data support as needed. In addition, OIRP directs and supports the progress of the Urban University Portfolio Project | ||||||||||
| How are student credit hours attributed to departments? | ||||||||||
| Student credit hours are attributed to departments according to the COURSE PREFIX. If courses are cross-listed, student credit hours are attributed to course prefixes according to the number of registrations under each prefix. Departments may petition for exceptions to these rules. | ||||||||||
| What is FTE? | ||||||||||
| FTE is the acronym for Full-time Equivalency. Student FTE is calculated by summing credit hours and dividing by 15 for undergraduates; 12 for master's, post-baccalaureate, & non-admitted graduate students; & 9 for doctoral students. | ||||||||||
