Community Pathways: Community-Based Learning

As part of its urban mission, PSU is committed to developing and maintaining community-university partnerships in teaching, research, and service. The goal of these partnerships is:

"To work with faculty to develop ongoing and reciprocal relationships with community organizations, businesses, & corporations and to enhance faculty scholarship in community-based learning and Capstone courses."

Highlighted in this chapter are examples of PSU's community-based learning courses. Through these courses, students have the opportunity to work directly in the community, in partnership with community groups, agencies, or citizens, and to bring the intellectual resources of the University to bear on important local or regional topics. To find out more about PSU's community partnerships, please link to the Center for Academic Excellence home page, as indicated below. You also may link to faculty reflections and comments on community-based scholarship by clicking on the specific documents we have provided.
